Field-tested equipment

Our filming kit and campervan equipment are made up of tried-and-tested products that we trust to perform when it matters most. From the cameras and audio gear we use to capture our adventures, to the electrical systems, power stations and essential equipment that keep our home on wheels running, everything has a purpose. We focus on reliable, practical kit that has proven itself out on the road, helping us stay off-grid for longer, travel further and capture our journey around the world with confidence.

Filming kit for on the road

Our core camera for everyday filming

We started the channel filming with an old Samung S8+, which worked fine to start off, but we soon moved to GoPro.

Much of our earlier videos are shot with the GoPro 11, but that's been relegated to B-roll, with the newer GoPro 12 taking over as the main camera.

We use the GoPro Hero 12 to capture our vanlife adventures and travels from an immersive, first-person perspective. Its compact, rugged design makes it ideal for filming on the move, whether we're exploring scenic routes, walking through new destinations, or capturing everyday moments in and around the van.

With its stabilised footage and wide-angle view, it helps us record smooth, high-quality videos while capturing the action from different angles and perspectives.

Wireless mics for improved audio

We use the RØDE Wireless ME microphones to capture clear, high-quality audio when filming our vanlife adventures and travels. Whether we're recording voiceovers, talking to the camera, or capturing conversations while exploring new places, they allow us to record natural-sounding audio without being restricted by cables. Their compact, lightweight design makes them easy to carry around and quick to set up, while the wireless connection gives us the freedom to move around and focus on capturing the moment.

Sub-249g expedition drone

Video editing suite

We use the DJI Mini 4 Pro drone to capture stunning aerial footage of our vanlife adventures and travels, giving us a completely different perspective on the places we explore. From sweeping landscapes and dramatic coastlines to remote campsites and winding roads, it helps us create cinematic shots that bring our videos to life. Its compact, lightweight design makes it easy to carry in the van and launch when we discover somewhere worth filming, allowing us to capture incredible views without carrying bulky equipment.

We use DaVinci Resolve to edit our vanlife and travel videos, turning all the footage we capture into polished, cinematic stories to share on YouTube. From cutting together our adventures and adding music and voiceovers to colour grading footage and improving audio, it gives us the tools to bring our videos to life. Whether we're showcasing breathtaking landscapes, exploring new destinations, or documenting life on the road, DaVinci Resolve helps us create engaging, high-quality videos that capture the atmosphere of our travels.
